MMA Fighter Tristan Scarborough Interview

Tristan Getting Hand Raised In Victory

MMA Career

Tristan Scarborough is a twenty-six year old amateur MMA fighter who trains at Hobbs Jackson-Wink MMA in Concord NC. With a record of 4-4, he is currently the number sixteenth ranked middleweight in the state of Tennessee. He has competed in multiple promotions including Spartyka Fight League, Cagezilla FC, and Aries Fight Series where he is a former three-time title challenger. Most recently, he was scheduled to fight Connor Mosby in October. Unfortunately, an injury occurred during his training camp leading him to withdraw from the fight. We caught up with Tristan to talk about the recent injury, his latest fights, and his plans moving forward. The injury was sustained during wrestling drills against the fence. In Tristan’s words, “It’s tough to describe. I did not feel it until the next morning after going to a chiropractor. It turned out my L3-L5 vertebrae were displaced.” He is now in the rehab process in what has been his first injury since competing in the sport. Not being able to train regularly has been tough on him mentally, after dedicating the last four years to this sport. Despite the recent setbacks, the time away has given him a renewed hunger to compete and show the best version of himself moving forward.

On What’s Next

When it comes to the past two fights, weight cutting has played a factor. Tristan summarized this by saying, “I dealt with tough weight cuts for various reasons. I’m looking forward to having a great camp, a good cut to be able to show what I actually got.” Determined to not let this issue effect his performance again, this summer he worked on a strict diet plan to assure a better weight cut. Moving forward once his treatment is complete, the plan is to begin training again next month for a return in 2023. With the Connor Mosby fight still on the table, Tristan says with a smile, “It’s a fight that still interests me for several reasons.” Whether it’s the Connor match-up, or any other opponent for his return, he’s never been a fighter to avoid a challenge. Last month, his teammate Vincent Van Alstyne, was able to breakthrough and capture the Aries FS Flyweight Championship. The win was motivating to everyone at the gym, and they are excited to keep producing champions. Tristan hopes to join the ranks, and be a Champion as well. We look forward to covering the career of Tristan Scarborough, as he prepares for a return to action, in his pursuit of another Championship opportunity.
