Nate Andrews ready to punch ticket to UFC at CES 49
Lincoln, R.I. (Mon, March 26, 2018)–Â Widely regarded as New England’s top lightweight contender, Nate “The Snake” Andrews fights Chris Padilla for the vacant CES Lightweight Championship in the co-main event of CES 49 on April 6 in Lincoln, R.I., LIVE on AXS TV Fights. Before that, the red-hot 155-pound stud checked in with FightBookMMA.
What would that CES lightweight belt mean to you?
It means a lot — it’s the next step in my career.
Have you had your eyes on the belt for a while now?
No, I haven’t — it was held by a teammate of mine (Luis Felix), so it wasn’t something that I was chasing. Now that it’s vacated, that’s the next step in my ultimate goal of fighting in the UFC.
Do you think this win will propel you to the UFC?
I hope so, yeah (laughs).
Do you get sick of UFC-related questions?
A little bit (laughs). I hear it so much, so it does get frustrating at times. But as long as it’s positive, I appreciate it, and it almost always is. People just want to see me there (laughs).
Do you think Chris Padilla is your toughest opponent yet?
I think so. He’s a very tough guy — a young, athletic guy with a good record. He’s a very challenging opponent.
What’s the most likely outcome for this fight?
I see me finishing the fight. I don’t know if it’s going to be a KO or a submission or a TKO, but definitely a finish.
