One-on-one with George Pieratt before his title fight at CFC 10

Clarksville, Tennessee: Johnathan Ivey’s Cage Fighting Championships 10 will take place on Saturday, June 26, 2021, at Appleton Harley-Davidson in Clarksville, Tennessee.

George Pieratt is the CFC #3 Ranked Lightweight Contender. He’s coming off his most impressive win at CFC 9 where he got a stoppage over Zack Lozano. On June 26th Pieratt takes on CFC Lightweight Champion Jaime Vasquez in the toughest fight of Pieratt’s career. FightBook MMA had the opportunity to talk to George about his upcoming fight and you can check out the conversation below.

FBMMA: Thank you so much George for taking the time to talk with us leading up to your title fight at CFC 10. Right now your about 7 weeks away from fight night, how are you feeling at the gym, is fight camp just getting started for this fight?

George: Thank you for having me. I feel great man I’m looking sharp, fast, strong, best shape of my life just ready to take what’s mine. fight camp originally started right after the Lozano fight. Since I took zero damage in the fight. I just stayed training and took no days off. I’ve been in the gym day in and day out since January and I’m not slowing down until I take over as Lightweight and Featherweight Champion. That’s the goal that I WILL accomplish this year.

FBMMA: June 26th you are fighting for the CFC Lightweight Championship against a name our readers are very familiar with Jaime Vasquez. Do you feel ready for a challenge of this magnitude?

George: I’ve prepared for Laime Vasquez for a couple years actually. I’ve wanted this fight for a long time and I knew sooner or later it would happen. Me and Kyle Tetley are close and Laime beat him so I started focusing on Laime since I knew I’d one day avenge him, then Xander failed against him as well so everyone knows theres a lot of time and work put in me by my team to finally take his head and put it on our mantle at Harris Holt. And we have the recipe to destroy this dude and that’s what I plan to do.

FBMMA: George this is your first shot at a CFC title, does it fell any different or is it business as usual for you?

George: It’s definitely different since this was my goal since I started fighting, Being a champion. But I’ll treat as I would any other fight I don’t get the belt if I don’t win so I’m just focused on getting the win. Not even thinking about the belt, just getting a win over Laime Vasquez.

FBMMA: Vasquez has looked impressive in all of his title fights in the CFC against Tetley, Baker, Scrivner, Schenk and Salvato. What do you plan on being able to get done on June 26th that the others couldn’t accomplish?

George: Those guys either got tired or didn’t pull the trigger. I’m known for my cardio and always on the attack. You definitely won’t see either of those flaws in my game. My pace running, going hard on the pads nonstop, pushing through a full class without even taking a deep breath, and of course that bedroom cardio for the finishing touches (laughs). Nobody in the CFC has a better cardio game than me. But the fact of the matter is he’s 5-0 in the CFC but he hasn’t fought 5 George Pieratt’s and if he did he’d be 0-5

FBMMA: If you look like you looked in your fight at CFC 9 this is going to be a amazing fight George! Do you have anyone you would like to thank or give a shout out to?

George: I’ll look better than I did my last fight. I’m just getting started! I’m sending Laime Vasquez to the retirement homes and taking what’s mine. That time is now. His time has come. Every dog has its day, His time is up, and this so-called GOAT is about to enter the slaughterhouse on June 26th. I’d like to thank my team for the amazing work they’ve put in me Lance Boyd, Jacob Kilburn, Isaac Morris, Daniel Wheeler (who’s my go-to pad holder, always keeping me raised sharp and focused) Adonis Bonilla, Kyle Tetley, Coach George Byrd, Coach Jeff Mackins. My grandmother will be at the event too and this is her first time watching me fight so I’ll definitely have to put on a show for her. Shout out to my mom and dad for believing in me and keeping me focused on the task at hand, and especially a shout out to all the ladies that’s helped me work that bedroom cardio, they were a big part in keeping me going in those later rounds. “Keep going” and “don’t stop” that sorta thing😉 thank you for having me and Godbless 🙏
