Professional Fighters League (PFL) 8 official results

NEW ORLEANS – PFL8 will broadcast on NBC Sports Network beginning at 10 p.m. ET. The quarterfinal fights will be streamed on FaceBook Watch beginning at 7:30 p.m. ET.

The top eight finishers in the featherweight and heavyweight divisions will square off at the Earl N. Morial Convention Center in hopes of punching their ticket to the 2018 Championship event set for New Year’s Eve.

Number one seeds Steven Siler and Francimar Barroso tipped the scales under their division limits and will face off with number eight seeds Nazareno Malegarie and Josh Copeland respectively.

The card will begin with a pair of alternate fights before the eight quarterfinal bouts that will determine who will be matched up in the semifinal fights later that evening. The bracketed playoffs will conclude with two fighters in each division headed to New York City for a Dec. 31 showdown with the winner cashing a seven-figure check and being crowned PFL champ.

PFL 8 OFFICIAL RESULTS:

Main Card
NBCSN, 10 p.m. ET

Josh Copeland defeated Alex Nicholson by knockout (punch) at 1:27 of the first round of their semifinal heavyweight bout. Copeland will move on to the 2018 PFL Championship on Dec. 31 in New York City.

Copeland:

“I really wanted to fight Alex in the final and it happened. I know he is a great fighter but he is wild and he presents openings that I felt my technique would give me a good chance to exploit. I can’t wait for the championship, I’m so excited.”

Steven Siler defeated Alexandre Almeida by disqualification (illegal kick to a downed opponent) at 0:52 of the second round of their featherweight semifinal bout. Siler will move on to face Lance Palmer at the 2018 PFL Championship on Dec. 31 in New York City.

Philipe Lins defeated Jared Rosholt by TKO (strikes) at 0:45 of the second round of their heavyweight semifinal bout. Lins advances to the 2018 PFL Championship on Dec. 31 in New York City.

Lins:

“I knew he was gonna get tired after the first round and after that I knew I only needed one punch. I listened to what my corners had to say and here we are. I’ll be a millionaire in two months.”

Lance Palmer defeated Andre Harrison by unanimous decision (30-27, 29-28 and 29-28) after three rounds in their featherweight semifinal bout. Palmer will advance to the 2018 PFL Championship on Dec. 31 in New York City.

Palmer:

“I said all along that in the first fight I only had one had to grapple with after breaking it early on. Everyone saw tonight what ZI can do when I’m fully healthy. And now it is time for the final and I always expected to be in the final. I can’t wait until December.”

Josh Copeland advanced over Francimar Barroso after a unanimous draw (19-19, 19-19 and 19-19 — Copeland moves on due to the tiebreaker of winning the first round) and will move on to face Alex Nicholson in the 2018 PFL Playoffs semifinal fight later tonight.

Steven Siler advances over Nazareno Malegarie after a draw (Siler moves on due to the tiebreaker of winning the first round) and will face Alexandre Almeida in the 2018 PFL Playoffs semifinal bout in the featherweight division.

Alex Nicholson defeated Jack May by TKO (strikes) at 2:03 of the first round. The victory moves him into the 2018 PFL Playoffs semifinals in the heavyweight division.

Alexandre Almeida defeated Jumabieke Tuerxun by majority decision (20-18, 20-18 and 19-19) and will move on to the 2018 PFL Playoffs semifinals in the featherweight division.

Philipe Lins defeated Caio Alencar by submission (guillotine choke) at of the first round. With the win Lins will move on to the 2018 PFL Playoffs heavyweight semifinals where he will face off with Jared Rosholt.

Andre Harrison defeated Alexandre Bezerra by majority decision (20-18, 20-18 and 19-19) and will move on to the 2018 PFL Playoff semifinal fight against Lance Palmer later tonight.

Jared Rosholt defeated Kelvin Tiller by unanimous decision (20-18, 20-18 and 20-18) and will move on to the 2018 PFL Playoffs semifinal fight in the heavyweight division.

Lance Palmer defeated Max Coga by unanimous decision (20-18, 20-18 and 20-18) and will move on to the 2018 PFL Playoffs semifinal fight in the featherweight division.
