Retired UFC start Chuck Liddell trying to calm crowds at protests in Huntington Beach, California

Huntington Beach, Calif.: On Sunday, May 31, 2020, retired UFC champion Chuck Liddell sought to calm tensions during protests over George Floyd in Huntington Beach as he walked around unruly crowds and encouraged people to stay calm. You can watch the incident in the video above.

Liddell tells the news: “It’s good to see people defending their city,” said Liddell, who lives in nearby Santa Barbara but is staying in Huntington Beach. “It’s terrible. Violence begets violence. Violence doesn’t help anybody. We all know what happened (to George Floyd) was wrong. Everybody I know thinks it was wrong. It’s hard to watch.” He continues, “This doesn’t help it. Destroying cities, destroying people, hurting people does not do any good for anybody. Hey, protest all you want; just do it peacefully.”

Chuck Liddell is the second UFC star spotted trying to help during the riots. FightBook MMA reported that Jon Jones posted a video on Instagram of him taking spray cans away from individuals in Albuquerque, N.M.
