ALBUQUERQUE, NM: Fresquez JW Fight Night 5 will take place on Friday, May 10, 2019 at the Isleta Resort & Casino in association with Fresquez Productions, Inc.
This event is first event scheduled this year as Fresquez celebrates their 25th year promoting fights. Lenny Fresquez’s first event took place back in August 3rd in 1994. Another event scheduled for the promotion is on June 8th at Isleta Resort & Casino as Fresquez plans to have a boxing event on that day.
Fight Night 5 is scheduled to have seven pro fights and nine amateur fights. Event doors will open at 5:30 p.m. and the first bout begins at 7:00 p.m. Must be 18 years of age or older to attend. In the main event of Fight Night 5, Steve “Mean Machine” Garcia (8-3) fighting out of Rio Rancho, New Mexico training at Jackson Wink MMA will face Andrew “The Beast” Whitney (16-6) fighting out of Boca Raton, Florida training at American Top Team. “Mean Machine” last fight was against Abel Cullum as he was able to defeat him via unanimous decision at JacksonWink Fight Night 4 “The Beast” is coming into this fight with a two fight win streak. His last fight was against Dylan Cala as he defeated him via Guillotine Choke in round 2 at the 2:40 mark at 864 Fighting Championship. Whitney is ranked 2nd of 81 active Florida Pro Featherweights and ranked 1st in the Bantamweight division.
In the co-main event, Will “Brown Bomber” Santiago (9-6) fighting out of Albuquerque, New Mexico training at Jackson Wink MMA will take on Jared “Nite Train” Gooden (13-3) fighting out of Duluth, Georgia training at X3 Sports. “Brown Bomber” is coming into this fight with two losses. His last fight was against Stephen Regman losing via knock out punch in the first round at the 4:34 mark at LFA 49: Brady vs. Urbina. Santiago is ranked 12th of 99 active US Northeast Pro Middleweights and ranked 23rd in the welterweight division. “Nite Train” is coming into this fight with a recent loss as he fought against Mike Graves losing via unanimous decision at Titan FC 53. Gooden is the ranked 1st of 24 active Georgia Pro Welterweights.
In the featured event, Sherwin “The Genius” Price (5-1) fighting out of Albuquerque, New Mexico training at Fit NHB will be taking on Andrew “The Golden Boy” Yates (9-2) fighting out of Las Vegas, Nevada training at Wand Fight Team. “The Genius” last fight was against Flavian Pilgrim and lost via knockout punch in the very first round at the 0:50 mark at LFA 58: Park vs. Willis. Price is ranked 1st of 19 active New Mexico Pro Lightweights and ranked 5th in the welterweight division. “The Golden Boy” is coming into this fight with a win against Michael Cole as he defeated him via punches in round 1 at the 3:51 mark at Golden Fights. Whitney is ranked 2nd of 81 active Florida Pro Featherweights and ranked 1st in the Bantamweight division.
The event will start with the amateur fighters showcasing their skills. They will put on show for the fans as they try to improve their record and being one step closer to making their pro debut in the near future.
