The UFC released Rachael Ostovich following three consecutive losses with her most recent loss back on Nov. 28 at UFC on ESPN 18 against Gina Mazany with a body kick and punches.
Ostovich is one of many fighters who recently received their walking papers. Yoel Romero also parted ways with the organization, despite having three fights remaining on his deal. UFC president Dana White stated that we will see approximately 60 roster cuts by year-end.
“It’s not just Yoel,” White explained. “We’re going to go through some serious cuts here at the end of the year. Probably going to have 60 cuts before the first of the year. Yoel has lost four of his last five. He’s 44 years old. Our roster is very inflated right now. We’re going to have some big cuts coming before the end of the year. You’re going to see a lot of names going here in the next several weeks.”
Ostovich signed with the promotion back in 2017. In 2018, Ostovich picked up her first UFC loss agaisnt Montana De La Rosa by rear naked choke at The Ultimate Fighter 27 Finale. In 2019 she lost against Paige VanZant by armbar at UFC on ESPN+ 1. As mentioned, her most recent loss was agianst Gina Mazany by ground & pound at UFC Fight Night: Smith vs. Clark. As we remember back in January 2020, Ostovich tested positive for using a tainted suplement and was suspended for eight months as a result.
