MIAMI Fla. – South Florida holds all the action as Brazilian fight promotion SFT MMA (Standout Fighting Tournament), holds its first show in the United States on Thursday August 13th featuring 7 world-class MMA fights including a submission bout. SFT 23 VR: Jeffrey vs. Assis will stream live on Fite.TV and United Fight Alliance will broadcast the event on tape delay throughout its networks including: NBC Sports Regional Networks, AT&T SportsNet, Cox Sports Television, Stadium Sports and Eleven Sports.
Emmy Award Winning Television Host Jordan “Jay” Adams and UFC Lightweight Charles “Boston Strong” Rosa will be on hand to cover the action in English and long-time Brazilian Veterans Roman Laurito, Ivan Bruno, UFC fighter Anderson Berinja and MMA reporter Mirelle Moschella will make the call in Portuguese. This event will follow COVID-19 preventative measures. There will be no audience and everyone involved in the event will be tested immediately prior to the event. A limited number of people will be in attendance including fighters, one-corner, officials, production crew and a very limited staff.
UFA CEO Jordan “Jay” Adams stated, “I’m really looking forward to this international show. SFT-MMA is considered one of the, if not THE best, show in Brazil. The main event features BTC Champion and KO artist Aaron Jeffrey (7-2-0) vs. submission specialist Brazilian Bruno “Brunao” Assis (9-4-0). Two killer prospects in a battle of Canada vs. Brazil.
David Hudson, President of SFT said, “Our plan was for SFT MMA and Xtreme to have a circuit, starting in Brazil, and then promoting shows in the United States and Mexico. The Coronavirus changed everything. Our show last Saturday night in Sao Paulo, Brazil, was canceled just after weighins, but we wanted to do the right thing and paid everybody involved. It has been a challenge to put the event together with travel restrictions and fighters dropping out but we didn’t want to postpone any further the debut of SFT MMA in the U.S. so we can begin to develop a presence in the US and to share our highly competitive and exciting combat sports with America!”
SFT’s previous events were all held in Brazil and Mexico and as anyone who has watched SFT MMA before knows the SFT fighter matchups are masterful, action packed and are wildly entertaining. In addition to the main card, the co-main catchweight event pits American Top Team fighter and TUF Brazil veteran Raush Manfio against Alexandre “Pulga” Pimentel, a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu black belt deemed one of the most entertaining grapplers in both MMA and BJJ.
SFT is excited to also bring MMA fans a special Submission Challenge between two renowned athletes. UFC fighter Markuz Maluco, a Ryan Gracie black belt and champion of ADCC São Paulo, with six victories by submission in his MMA career faces Brazilian Luiz Buscapé who has fought in Dream, Pride and WSOF and is currently in the Blackzilians camp with seven submissions in his career.
