Albuquerque, New Mexico: Lion Fight 54 will take place on Saturday, April 20th at Route 66 Casino & Hotel in Albuquerque, New Mexico. This event will stream live on CBS Sports Network beginning at 10 p.m. ET / 8 p.m. MT / 7 p.m. PT. In the main event, Amy Pirnie (21-3-1) will be taking on Sandra Godvik (27-5) for the Lion Fight World Super Flyweight Title (113 lbs.). The promotion is making its inaugural championship to the very best super flyweights in the world. Pirnie fighting out of Glasgow, Scotland, enters the bout riding a six-fight winning streak. Godvik is originally from Stockholm, Sweden, and now fights out of Chiang Mai, Thailand. She’s a former European champion and enters the bout on a three-fight winning streak highlighted by a pair of third-round knockouts.
In the co-main event, Brett Hlavacek (18-5) will meet Ardany Mora (4-1) for the Lion Fight North American Cruiserweight Title in the Middleweight (185 lbs.) division. We will see another first-time championship bout. Hlavacek fighting out of Brooklyn, New York is going after a second title as he is the current reigning North American light heavyweight champion. Hlavacek is coming into this bout on a two-fight winning streak. Mora steps in as an injury replacement but he is ready for the opportunity. Mora fighting out of Arlington, Texas has picked up two victories on a recent trip to Thailand.
Also on the card we will see Lion Fight North American Super Bantamweight Title (120 lbs.) bout. Candice Mitchell (13-2) will go against Whitney Tobin (32-13) as one of them will be crowned as the third brand-new champion. Mitchell fighting out of Toronto, Canada is a highly regarded striker who has made her mark in Asia competing in many events in Thailand, including the Kings Cup Celebration. Tobin will have home-ring advantage in the bout as she now makes her home in Albuquerque since previously living and fighting out of New Zealand. She has captured a number of key victories throughout her career.
In the Heavyweight (265 lbs.) division, Joe Stripling (4-0) will meet Cody East (1-0). For the first time in more than three years, the big boys are on the main card of a Lion Fight event. A native of Wilmington, Delaware, Stripling made waves recently with a knockout win via a spectacular cartwheelkick. He’ll face a stiff test in Albuquerque’s own East, a two-time UFC competitor whose mixed martial arts career featured eight wins by knockout.
Also on the main card we have Marc Entenberg (2-1) taking on Sean Baca (pro debut) in a super welterweight (150 lbs.) bout. It’s a battle for hometown bragging rights as the two Albuquerque products square off.
Making their pro debut is John Seagle (pro debut) as he takes on Gene Perez (pro debut) in a lightweight (135 lbs.) battle. Highly regarded prospect Seagle, who fights out of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, meets Albuquerque’s own Perez.
We will also see local top amateur fighters and from the surrounding areas compete to give the fans a taste of some Muay Thai action on this already stacked card. Nate Cullison fighting out of Pueblo, CO will take on Quinton Dillion fighting out of Albuquerque, NM for the super flyweight amateur title. Swagath Pillai fighting out of Albuquerque, NM will meet Samuel Martin fighting out of Albuquerque, NM in the middleweight (155 lbs.) division. Matthew Cordona fighting out of Rio Rancho, NM will go against Andre Mitchell fighting out of Albuquerque, NM in the welterweight (145 lbs.) division.
Sterling Peak fighting out of Belen, NM will take on Bobby Boden fighting out of Albuquerque, NM in a light heavyweight (170 lbs.) bout. Derrick Morale fighting out of Albuquerque, NM takes on Jonathon Trujillo from Albuquerque, NM in a featherweight (125 lbs.) bout. Alen Dudo from Denver, CO takes on Thomas Horton fighting out of Las Lunas, NM in a welterweight (140 lbs.) bout. Cameron Wesley from Midland, TX takes on Damien Holguine from Albuquerque, NM in a cruiserweight (185 lbs.) bout. Matthew Marshal fighting out of Albuquerque, NM takes on Nick Gomez from Albuquerque, NM in a super welterweight (150 lbs.) bout. Fight card and bout order are subject to change without notice.
