Bellator MMA announces new distribution deal with Da Zone
FightBookMMA attended the Bellator press conference today that was held at Viacom headquarters in NYC. Bellator announced a new partnership with the European live sports streaming service, Da Zone.
The partnership will officially kick off on September 29th, with a live show airing exclusively through Da Zone. It will feature the fourth meeting between two hard hitting fan favorites in Rampage Jackson, and Wanderlai Silva.
Da Zone will stream 22 live Bellator events, with 7 exclusively on its platform. The company chose not to release a price point. However, they do plan on offering a free month to new subscribers. Scott Coker hinted at a new era, aimed towards all international events being streamed live, but stopped short of confirming the end of tape delayed shows.
The streaming service also plans on showing 30 boxing events, bringing viewers a live combat sports event every single week. Da Zone CEO James Rushton stated they are “inquisitive” about bringing other combat sports promotions into the fold.
Scott Coker also officially announced the acquisition of former UFC light heavyweight Champion, Lyoto Machida, (also in attendance). Coker mentioned that in speaking with Lyoto, he feels he wants to compete at both middle-weight, and light heavyweight.
Middleweight champion Gegard Mousasi, and Welterweight champion Rory Macdonald were also on hand to answer questions. The two are set to face off for Mousasi’s belt on the September 29th card. After a brief Q&A section, the fighters were squared off for the press. You can learn more about Da Zone at their website www.watch.dazn.com
